Day 3

The picture below is a copy of Peggy's brain scan pre-surgery. The tumor is the olive-shaped image on the lower right middle. The yellow highlighted area depicts the swelling. It is clear why Dr. Mittal expressed such concern and his eagerness to resect it ASAP.

It is hard to believe that olive was removed Tuesday morning and that we spent last night at home. Overall, it was a quiet night. Team Studzinski slept, relieved that all three of us were home together. Thankfully this time, we got all of Peggy's medications on a coordinated cycle instead of having something due every 2 hours.

After Keith made her favorite breakfast (according to Peggy's exact specifications), all three of us ventured out for a short walk around Bloomcrest Drive to get some fresh air.

We all know how hard it is for Peggy to sit still - so the library of books we have on hand has been fantastic. She now has a routine where she goes into the office/den, tucks herself into the recliner with one of her cozy new blankets, lights a candle and dives into her latest book. We now have a gigantic jigsaw puzzle as a back-up.

The incision is healing well. Since they closed it with stitches instead of staples she can wash her hair today. (No time for blood dreadlocks).

More to come. Stay tuned.

  2. Thank you for the candid sharing and the beautiful pictures. The chilly fall day here must have made for a brisk walk! The idea of a book, blanket and candle sounds very inviting and relaxing. What a joy!
